The International Cultural Flair Exhibition of International Students, hosted by the School of Overseas Education (SOE), was a standout feature at the university’s 10th Psychological Garden Party on March 19. The event offered a vibrant cultural and culinary feast for the entire university community, showcasing the unique traditions and profound cultural heritage from around the world.
During the event, international students from six countries, namely Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Laos, and Bangladesh, wore their traditional costumes, becoming one of the highlights of the exhibition. In the “Exotic Dress” session, participants held bilingual cards with positive phrases and took photos with the international students in their traditional attire, capturing moments that symbolized cross-cultural exchange. These interactions not only enhanced mutual understanding between Chinese and international students but also promoted friendship and cooperation.
The World Cuisine Experience Zone was equally captivating. From “Burmese Coconut Balls” to “Laotian Ice Powder” and “Mutton Hand Rice” prepared by Tajik students, each dish reflected strong local characteristics and unique charm. These culinary creations not only delighted the taste buds but also provided insights into the historical backgrounds and customs of different countries through food culture.
A series of engaging mental games, such as “blindfolded gong-knocking,” further enlivened the event. These activities fostered interaction and communication among students, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere that reinforced cross-cultural bonds.
The International Cultural Flair Exhibition is a powerful testament to the university’s long-term commitment to strengthening international communication capacity and promoting cross-cultural understanding. The “Study in China - CIIT” initiative has become a vital bridge connecting the university with the world, cultivating internationalized talents who are knowledgeable about China, friendly to China, and deeply appreciative of its culture.
Looking ahead, SOE will continue to organize diverse national education activities to enhance international students’ sense of identity and integration with Chinese culture. These efforts aim to jointly tell a compelling Chinese story and amplify China’s voice on the global stage.
