On the afternoon of October 25, CIIT successfully held the Opening Ceremony and First Lesson for the international students of Class 2024. The event was graced by the presence of President Yang Jinsong and Vice President Tan Zhuping, with Dean Fei Jianming of SOE serving as the host.
President Yang Jinsong delivered the First Lesson to the international students of 2024, highlighting the university's commitment to its motto of Integrity, Practicality, Diligence, Thrift, and Innovation. He underscored CIIT’s active role in supporting the One Belt, One Road initiative and its notable contributions to international education. President Yang articulated three key expectations for the incoming international students: to value their educational opportunities in China and excel academically; to engage in social practices to boost their overall competencies; and to share positive narratives about China to foster cultural exchange and promote Chinese culture globally.
Vice President Tan Zhuping presented copies of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China in both Chinese and English to the representatives of the 2024 international student. He urged the students to proactively learn about China's political and social developments, gain a deep understanding of China's national conditions, and integrate swiftly into life and studies in China. Following this, the office leaders adorned the representatives of the 2024 international students with school badges and conferred scholarships to the freshmen.
Teacher representative Gao Yang and student representative Lu Mai also addressed the gathering. Gao Yang inspired the newcomers to embrace the new environment, explore personal challenges, and leverage the rich educational resources provided by CIIT to hone their skills and intercultural communication abilities, striving to achieve their personal aspirations. Lu Mai emphasized that studying in China offers not only academic advancement but also a profound insight into Chinese culture, advocating for students to become vital bridges connecting China with the rest of the world.
The ceremony was attended by over 60 individuals, comprising leaders from the International Office and the Office of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs, the Academic Affairs Office, School of Digital Business, and School of Overseas Education, alongside counselors, class advisors, and the international students of Class 2024.
