The National Youth Vocational Skills Competition is a national first-class vocational skills competition jointly organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. It has been successfully held for 17 times. In the just concluded student group final, Changzhou Vocational Institute of Industry Technology won the championship. It is said that the main creative team of this project consists of 7 teachers and students, and under the guidance of Dr. Liu Jinfu, it took two years to complete the design ― wall-climbing robot.
A total of 187 works from 25 provinces were selected for the final, covering three competition directions: technological innovation, creative design, and management innovation. The reason why wall-climbing robots could hold the championship is that they have solved the problem that existing equipment in the narrow space of tunnels fail to carry detection instruments to designated areas. They proposed a configuration scheme of wall-climbing robots with wheels and caterpillar belts that boasts adsorption by track rolling and biological adhesion, only to win the national gold medal in the creative design category of the higher vocational group.
